Polycon first became available on 12 May 2015. It is estimated that Polycon has been downloaded between 1000000 and 5000000 times from the Play Store.

Polycon 2.1.4 requires the following permissions:

Allows applications to access information about networks.

Allows applications to open network sockets.

Allows an application to read from external storage.

Allows applications to set the wallpaper.

Allows applications to set the wallpaper hints.

Allows access to the vibrator.

Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.

Allows an application to write to external storage.
